Soulgen Releases New Album, "Funeral For A Fiend"

Soulgen's long awaited full length project Funeral For A Fiend was released 6-21-2008 by Death Rattle Records. From the opening assault of “Morte” to the final bombastic war cry of “And Now It Ends…”, the album releases a sonic fury of huge drums, thunderous bass, aggressive vocals, and larger than life guitar work. Guitarist/Vocalist Heath Rasnake calls this album “The culmination of years of hard work, prayer and finally being in the right place at the right time. This is the album we have wanted to make since the beginning. An album that not only captures the aggression of Soulgen when we play live but also the songs as we originally intended them to sound. Truthfully they may have turned out better than we could have ever dreamed.”

Funeral For A Fiend shows a marked maturity in songwriting and lyrics. Obsessed with sharing the truth of Christ, Soulgen continues to hold nothing back and blaze full on into areas that many Christian artists have labeled as taboo. Interwoven amongst fundamental themes such as the impending Second Coming are the introspective insights into the darkness that resides inside each of us and the core of this releases meaning…that for Christ to live in us, we must die of ourselves and bury our own desires. Available for order online as well as all live shows, this album promises to deliver the metal goods in spades with a message everyone needs. Unlike the title of the final track “And Now It Ends…”, for Soulgen, this is only the beginning.
